Duncan High School senior Sebastian Salazar has a passion for playing soccer. He plays the positions of both striker and center mid for the Duncan High School Demons. Many would consider Sebastian a soccer veteran, having played the sport for 14 years, starting at the age of 3.
Sebastian is proud to represent both his school and community as a student athlete. Sebastian proclaimed, “It means everything to be able to have the opportunity to play the sport I love in front of all the fans their support. It truly means the world to me.”
In terms of what motivates Sebastian, he stated, “What motivates me are our fans; more specifically being able to play soccer in front of my family.”
When it comes to his biggest role model, Sebastian looks toward family as the source. Sebastian stated, “My biggest role models are my parents. They are my greatest inspirations just because of everything they do and their hard work ethic.
As far as what it has taken for Sebastian to become successful in sports Sebastian stated, “It has taken a lot of effort, and practice, but most importantly, just always listening and learning.”
During a student athlete’s academic career, there is often a teacher that has stood out during their academic journey. Sebastian stated, “The teacher that stood out the most to me is Mrs. Curry. She has been most impactful not only because the psychology class she taught was great, but because as a teacher she was amazing. She taught me many things about life.”
School rivalries are a natural part of playing sports. For Sebastian, there are a few particular opponents he enjoys winning against the most. Sebastian stated, “I enjoy beating any opponent, but I really enjoy beating any team from Lawton, Elgin, or Cache the most.”
After graduating from Duncan High School, Sebastian plans on pursing higher education. Sebastian stated, “I plan to go to Oklahoma State University and major in Bachelor of Science in Nursing to become a Registered Nurse.”
