Elgin’s Sabrina Williams – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Arvest Bank-Elgin

There are moments in life when we have an experience that makes an impact on us. Most people can have a number of these experiences. Sabrina Williams is an athlete at Elgin High School and she says that in her athletic career, there is one moment that stands out the most.

“The highlight of my career was being able to jump five feet six inches at the Carl Albert track meet and making coach Lorah and my family happy,” she recalled.

Williams is a sophomore that competes in track and basketball. She is also involved with the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She also helps her cousin, Merrick, with all of her Student Council activities.

Throughout her life, there have been people that have had an influence on her and helped her become the person and the athlete that she is today.

“My sister plays a huge role in my life,” Williams said. “She’s always been there for me and gives me the advice I need. Also, coach Ludwell has taught me that integrity and character matter and basketball is more than just a game and starting my high school basketball career off right.”

Wearing the Elgin name on her uniform is more than just playing for her school. Williams says that it is about continuing the legacy that went before her.

“It means a lot to be able to represent Elgin,” she said. “Four generations of my family have attended Elgin and sports is just one way I can give back and represent.”

In the classroom, Sabrina has had some impactful teachers that she is thankful to have learned from.

“My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Ballou,” she said. “I know that she will always be there for me when I need help for anything and is one of my biggest fans and supporters. Another is Mrs. Ashley because I can always go to her with anything and she will go above and beyond to help me reach my athletic potential.”
