ELGIN OWLS
Coach: Levi Garrett
OUTLOOK
After finishing as the Class 5A State Runner-Up in 2025, the Elgin Owls enter the new season with experience, depth, and high expectations under head coach Levi Garrett.
“We are returning seven starters from our Class 5A State Runner up team in 2025,” Garrett said. “We have a veteran team that will be led by three, four-year starters. We will have the ability to manufacture runs or slug to produce runs. I think Owls will have one of the deepest pitching rotations in class 4A and i think that will really help manage the difficult schedule we will play this spring.”
Leading the way is Ritson Meyer, one of the program’s most dynamic and consistent performers.
“Ritson is a tremendous athlete but is equally tremendous between the ears on the diamond,” Garrett said. “He possesses so many attributes that helps a team win daily. He is a special player and when finished here at Elgin will be a program leader in many categories. He led the Owls in hitting the last two seasons and has been one of our top pitchers as well. Defensively, he will move around and really gives us some versatility when pitching different guys.”
Garrett also points to Cameron Kinder as a rising contributor.
“Cameron will be a sophomore for us this spring,” he said. “He has worked hard and has made some significant improvements to his game. He will have a shot to see some time on the mound for the Owls this spring and could give us some added depth on the infield if needed.”
Character and leadership remain pillars of the program with veterans Mason Thornton, Kade Hilliary, and Miles Dickinson.
“Mason Thornton- four-year starter, my shortstop, committed to Redlands to play baseball. Great kid, Great leader, plays the game the right way,” Garrett said. “Kade Hilliary- three-year starter, outfielder, pitcher. Kade had a monster junior year and is looking to build off his success from a season ago. His role has increased, and he will be a significant contributor to our team this spring. Miles Dickinson- Miles is a hard worker and has been waiting for his turn to play. During that time, he has been a backup outfielder, pinch runner, and pinch hitter for the Owls. Miles shows up each day and works to help his team. A great teammate.”
Additional contributors include Max Washburn, Jaxon Southerland, and Kason Meyer.
“Max is a left-handed pitcher for the Owls. He balances ag activities with baseball,” Garrett said. “Jaxon is one of my top arms, district guy with electric stuff. Kason, Ritson’s brother, is a great utility guy, plays outfield and catches for the Owls. Big-time baseball player that is looking to have a breakout year.”
With veteran leadership, versatile talent, and deep pitching, the Owls are poised for another strong run this spring.
