Chickasha’s Ashlynn Smith – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Elite Transmissions

At 6-foot-1, Chickasha High School’s Ashlynn Smith is hard to miss. But it’s not just her size that makes her stand out—it’s how she uses it. A commanding presence on both ends of the floor, Smith has been a key difference-maker for a Chickasha team that’s among the top programs in Class 4A this season.

Anchoring the Lady Chicks’ interior, Smith averages 8 points, 3 blocks, and 2 assists per game. Her rim protection is elite, altering countless shots beyond what appears in the box score. Offensively, she draws constant defensive attention, often facing double- or triple-teams in the post. Despite that pressure, she displays impressive patience and passing ability, finding open teammates when defenses collapse.

“Ashlynn is a 6’1 post player that impacts both ends of the floor,” head coach Jace Johnson said. “Averages 3 blocks per game and 8 ppg. She is constantly surrounded by 2 or 3 players on offense. She is a great passer out of the post position with 2 asst/game. She is capable of guarding smaller players around the perimeter and posts around the block. She allows us to pressure the ball on defense, and we run a lot of our offense (Princeton) through her.”

That versatility makes Smith invaluable to Chickasha’s system. On defense, her mobility allows the Lady Chicks to pressure guards confidently, knowing she can switch onto perimeter players or protect the rim when needed. On offense, she’s the central hub of Chickasha’s Princeton-style attack, reading defenses, facilitating from the post, and finishing through contact.

Beyond her skill set, Smith’s calm leadership and unselfish play have elevated those around her. She brings balance to Chickasha’s lineup—a strong interior presence paired with awareness and skill that connects every piece of the team.

As Chickasha continues its run in Class 4A, Smith remains one of the keys to the Lady Chicks’ success: a dominant post anchored in teamwork, intelligence, and unrelenting effort.
