For the first time in more than a decade, Hollis High School basketball has topped the 20-win mark, and senior guard Matt Parker has been at the heart of the Tigers’ resurgence. A dynamic playmaker and fierce competitor, Parker has helped turn potential into progress, guiding Hollis to a Shortgrass Conference title and deep postseason run that continues into the area tournament.
Parker’s all-around game has defined his senior season. He’s averaged 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds per contest—numbers that reflect both his scoring ability and unselfish leadership on the floor. Whether orchestrating the offense or creating his own shot, Parker sets a tone built on confidence and control.
“Matt averaged 19 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds per game this season helping Hollis win over 20 games for the first time in over ten years, winning the Shortgrass Conference, and advancing to the area tournament,” head coach Tyler Bates said. “Matt was also one of our primary rim protectors, averaging 1.5 blocks per game, and having several highlight reel blocks throughout the year.”
Equally effective on defense, Parker’s timing and instincts around the rim have provided Hollis with a crucial interior presence. His 1.5 blocks per game often sparked fast breaks and momentum swings—an uncommon impact for a guard in high school basketball.
Beyond the stats, Parker has emerged as a cornerstone of Hollis basketball culture. His work ethic in practice, vocal leadership during tight games, and commitment to elevating teammates have left a lasting impression on the program.
As the Tigers continue their postseason push, Parker’s determination remains steady. Win or lose, his senior season has already set a new standard for Hollis basketball—a legacy fueled by heart, hustle, and a passion for the game.
