OFFENSE
Hobart returns to the field with a highly experienced offense, led by standout offensive lineman Jaxon Allison (6-5, 275, Sr.). “Jaxon will be a four-year starter on the offensive line. He has led us in blocking
percentage and knockdown blocks the previous two seasons,” coach Colt Allison said. “He is currently being recruited by OBU, ECU and NEO.” The Bearcats will employ a flexbone offense under the guidance of Allison. “Excited about this upcoming season. We bring nine starters back on both sides of the ball. Our offense will be led by our offensive line with four of the five being two- and three-year starters,” Allison said. The offense will be orchestrated by quarterback Ty Harmon (5-10, 170, Sr.), who will have key targets in running backs Trey Cole (5-10, 180, Sr.) and Blaine Lopez (5-10, 170, Sr.). Running back Eathan Funkhouser (5-10, 170, Jr.) will also play a pivotal role. “We are an option-first based team that wants to make the defense play disciplined assignment football while looking for two on one matchups,” Allison added. Eli Ellis (5-10, 170, Jr.) will also contribute significantly, as he had five touchdowns last season. With nine returning starters, the Bearcats are aiming for a strong offensive season.

DEFENSE
The Bearcats’ defense will operate from a 4-2-5 base under defensive coordinator Travis Sims. The unit will focus on being physical and making offenses scramble. The defensive line features Shooter Mayabb (5-10, 245, Jr.), a powerful presence at the defensive tackle position. “Defensively, we will be led by our linebacking core of Dalton Hamlet and Sawyer Davidson who are two- and three-year starters as well,” Allison said. In the secondary, Dalton Hamlet (5-10, 170, Jr.) and Sawyer Davidson (6-0, 170, Sr.) will disrupt the opposing offenses as linebackers. Returning starter Logan Tacker (6-0, 170, Sr.) and other experienced players will also help the Bearcats on defense, all of whom bring intensity and physicality to the game. With nine returning starters, the Bearcats’ defense is expected to be ready for the challenges of this upcoming football season. The coaching staff includes Brett Barnett, Cason Montgomery, and Brandon Benson.
