OFFENSE
Entering this season, the Bombers are looking to make some noise in the postseason. Head coach Bret Tyler’s squad has some familiar faces, but he knows that will need to make some adjustments in order to be successful.“We return a lot of skill position players,” Tyler said. “We will need to find and develop some lineman. If we can do that, we should have a good year.” After seeingsome time at quarterback last season, Dalton Wells (6-1, 200, Jr.) will lead the offense. He will be joined by a pair of solid running backs that will play a big role in the Bombers success this season. Willie Cramer (6-0, 220, Sr.) rushed for 1,085 yards, had 91 receiving yards, and 15 total touchdowns. Talan Sheffield (5-10, 170, Sr.) ended last season with 527 total yards and four scores. Wells will also have a pair of wide receivers at his disposal, and he will work to get them the ball in open space. Zane Tyler (5-9, 165, Jr.) tallied 105 yards and two touchdowns last season, and he will be joined by Champ Cramer (6-2, 180, Sr.). Both should play a big role in the offense this season. Anchoring things on the offensive line will be Josh Corez (5-9, 210, Sr.) at tackle.
DEFENSE
On the defensive side of the ball, the Bombers will work to get in the backfield and disrupt their opponents any time they can. Wells will be a force to deal with at the linebacker position. He racked up 70 total tackles, six tackles for loss, and he also added an interception. The secondary will have a quartet of players returning that had a lot of production a year ago. They expect to be big contributors this season and they will work to keep the opponent’s big plays to a minimum. Jon Hankieson (5-8, 170, Sr.), Grady Hilburn (6-1, 170, Jr.), Sheffield, and Tyler combined for 143 tackles, five tackles for loss, and four interceptions a year ago and coaches do not expect to see a drop off this season. On the defensive line, Cramer will look to create chaos as he tries to get into the backfield. He registered 25 tackles and five tackles for loss last season. Assistant coaches this season are Scott Mathews, Maurice Walton, Shane James, and Joe Wood.
