With longtime head coach John Holten guiding the way, the Anadarko boys and girls cross country teams head into the upcoming season with a youthful but promising roster. Holten, who has spent 19 years at the school, knows he will lean on underclassmen and emerging runners on both sides as the Warriors look to develop throughout the fall. The group may be young, but early signs point to a squad willing to put in the work and grow together meet by meet.
On the boys side, Anadarko will look to a mix of returning runners and freshmen stepping into bigger roles to set the tone. Leading that effort is Kolaiah Kaulaity, who has started to mature physically and turn that development into stronger performances on the course. Holten expects Kaulaity to be the team’s top runner, anchoring a lineup that will count on consistency and steady improvement. Freshman Tre Tillis arrives with a strong middle school résumé after placing in most of his junior high meets, bringing competitive experience that should translate quickly to the high school level. Another freshman, Caisen Goombi, has also begun to come into his own after last season and will be an important piece as he continues to develop. Rounding out the core is Red Lonewolf, a dedicated runner who has autism but continues to show up to every practice, logging personal records over the past few years and setting a standard with his work ethic and kindness.
The Anadarko girls bring their own blend of experience and potential, highlighted by several standouts who have already made their mark. Ava Pebeahsy has been running for Anadarko since middle school and returns after qualifying for the state meet last year, giving the Warriors a proven leader at the front of the pack. Behind her, Braelyn Hernandez has taken a step forward each season and recently saw major gains during the last track campaign, momentum she aims to carry into cross country. The lineup is solidified by Kam Moser, a consistent performer who has placed in nearly all of her meets in recent years and provides reliability in every race. Together, this young but determined group of Warriors will look to build on their foundation, chase new personal bests, and compete with confidence throughout the season.
