ANADARKO LADY WARRIORS TENNIS

Coach: Laci Tompkins

OUTLOOK

“We should be fairly competitive,” said head coach Laci Tompkins. “Our singles players should be competitive and our one doubles team qualified for state last year and will be returning. They are best friends, too, so it helps them know each other.”

Gia East

Leading the Lady Warriors is Gia East, a returning state qualifier who brings contagious energy and spark to every match. “Gia brings a ton of energy,” Tompkins said. “Her footwork is excellent, and she provides excitement and fun to watch her play. She is small but packs a large punch. She is part of our girls doubles team that qualified for state last year.” With her speed, competitiveness, and powerful play, East continues to set the tone for Anadarko’s success this season.

Aubree Price

Sophomore Aubree Price has turned heads early in her career and is emerging as the team’s underclassman to watch. “Aubree is a sophomore,” said Tompkins. “She is very outgoing and very successful in all she does. She has a great knack to hit great shots to end rallies. She is a winner in life, so I am looking forward to seeing her compete.” That confidence and grit make Price a promising player capable of stepping up in key matches.

Tompkins also praised Kelly Barron for her leadership on and off the court. “Kelly will likely be one of the Anadarko valedictorians,” Tompkins said. “She is very intelligent, well mannered, well spoken, although shy. She is always on the right side of things, never getting in trouble. She is just excellent at all she does. She qualified for state last year and hopefully will again.”

With talented returners like East and Barron paired with the drive of young players like Price, Tompkins believes the Lady Warriors have the right combination of discipline and team chemistry to make another deep postseason run.
