“Sam Battiest is our one singles player,” said head coach Laci Tompkins. “He qualified for state last year, so hopefully he can return and try to make a run. Our doubles teams will be changing around so we have yet to see how those will turn out. They should be competitive, though.”
At the top of the lineup for the Warriors is senior Sam Battiest, a returning state qualifier. “He is a senior and qualified for state last year,” Tompkins said. “He plays year-round. He is Native American, so he participates in several Native tournaments. Hopefully he will make a nice run this year.” Tompkins said Battiest’s work ethic and experience make him the team’s foundation, both on and off the court.

Sophomore Jaxon Barrett is one of the team’s rising players to watch. “Jaxon comes from a tennis family,” Tompkins said. “He has improved greatly over the past year. He will be playing doubles. We will see how he does.” Barrett’s combination of strong fundamentals and consistent growth has given the Warriors confidence heading into the new season.
Tompkins also highlighted Barrett’s impact beyond the court for his leadership and maturity. “Jaxon is in many activities,” Tompkins said. “He is an excellent student. He is well mannered, responsible, and a very kind gentleman to be around every day.”
Rounding out Anadarko’s lineup is senior Adriel Silverhorn, who continues to grow into a dependable player. “Adriel is going to be pretty competitive,” Tompkins said.
With a strong singles leader in Battiest, emerging doubles potential from Barrett and Silverhorn, and unwavering community support, Tompkins’ Warriors are set for an exciting and determined season on the courts.
