Duke High School Boys Golf Team Spotlight Presented by M & C Corner Store

Just one spot short of the state tournament a year ago, the Duke boys golf team returns this spring with experience, depth and a sense of unfinished business. All five bags are back for head coach Nick Gable, giving the Tigers a veteran lineup that believes it can take the next step and earn a place at state.

Duke is anchored by senior Braden Gable, who has held the No. 1 bag since he first teed it up in high school. The team’s MVP has logged countless hours at the course and on the range, sharpening a game that has set the standard for the program. Gable is also the captain of the basketball team and is in the running to be valedictorian of his class, showcasing the same discipline in the classroom and in other sports that he brings to the fairways. After graduation, he plans to attend college and major in sports business.

Behind him, Duke features a strong middle of the lineup with juniors Jace Farr and Nathan Gable locking down the two and three bags. Both have already proven they can win at the high school level, each claiming an individual tournament title during their careers. Their ability to go low on any given day gives Duke multiple scoring options and takes some pressure off the top bag.

Rounding out the lineup are senior Grant Milner and junior Lance Womack, who have become steady four and five bags despite taking up golf only a few years ago. Their rapid development has given Duke the kind of balance that can decide tight tournament standings, especially in a format where every score matters.

With talent at the top, stability throughout the lineup and a close-knit support system, Duke enters the 2026 season confident that last year’s near miss will fuel a breakthrough run to state.
