There’s a new sense of excitement in Blair as the Lady Broncs gear up for another milestone season, this time on the basketball court. Fresh off the school’s first-ever volleyball season, Blair’s athletes are carrying that same energy and determination into winter sports. Under first-year head coach Tina Clayton, the Lady Broncs are focused on creating a new culture built around hard work, team chemistry, and pride in representing their community.
Coach Clayton understands that success doesn’t come overnight, but she’s encouraged by the team’s attitude and effort early on. “We’re building from the ground up,” she said. “This group shows up ready to learn and compete every day. That’s the kind of mindset that builds a program.”
The Lady Broncs’ roster combines leadership and new energy. Post players Alyssa Moore (5-9, Sr.) and Chavelle Carney (5-8, Sr.) bring valuable experience and toughness in the paint, setting the tone on both ends of the floor. Guard Katie Clayton (5-9, Jr.) will take command of the offense, using her vision and court awareness to guide the tempo and keep the team organized. Alexis Leach (5-8, So.) adds versatility as a wing player capable of scoring from multiple spots, while fellow sophomore Alana Powell (5-2, So.) provides quickness and grit at the point guard position.
Together, this mix of upperclassmen leadership and underclassmen potential gives the Lady Broncs plenty to build on. Practices have emphasized fundamentals, conditioning, and developing a fast-paced, scrappy style of play that fans will enjoy watching.
For Blair, this season isn’t just about the scoreboard; it’s about laying the foundation for the future. Each game, each practice, and each possession will be an opportunity to grow stronger as a team and continue building pride in Blair athletics. With Coach Clayton leading the way and a determined group of athletes ready to make their mark, the Lady Broncs are set to take another big step forward in writing their program’s story.
