Cache’s Avery Probst – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Nancy Holcomb State Farm Agent

Cache’s Avery Probst loves the game of basketball. But for her, it is more than a game. It’s a stage where faith meets fierce determination. As both point guard and shooting guard, Avery doesn’t just play; she leads, inspires, and sets an example. “I am motivated by my relationship with God and being a light for Him,” she says, letting her faith drive every dribble, pass, and shot. That same fire carries off the court, guiding her in the classroom, shaping her daily life, and leaving a mark on everyone around her. For Avery, excellence isn’t optional—it’s a way of life.

Avery credits her parents as her biggest role models. “They always know what is best for me, and their advice really helps me,” she said. “They push me to be great in my academics, sports, and even just to be the best person I can be.” That guidance has helped shape a young athlete who values discipline, focus, and integrity in all she does.

She also remembers influential teachers who helped her develop a love for learning. Her fourth-grade teacher, Janet Crossan, made a lasting impression. Avery fondly recalls enjoying social studies lessons and listening to “The Old Willis Place” read aloud. “She helped me enjoy school and socializing with others,” Avery said. “She helped me prepare for the upper grades.”

Success, Avery explains, requires dedication and perseverance. “Training to be successful in my sports has been over the course of my entire life,” she said. With help from her father and countless hours of practice with her teammates, she has learned to push through even the toughest days. A career highlight came as a sophomore when she had the opportunity to play at the Paycom Center, an experience that remains unforgettable.

On the court, Avery enjoys the competition and camaraderie with teammates. She especially likes going against Kaydence Frickie, who challenges her to improve, and she appreciates the efforts of younger teammates, noting that even freshmen bring great attitudes and dedication.

Beyond sports, Avery is active in Student Council and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, balancing academics and athletics by prioritizing schoolwork after practice. Representing her school and community is a responsibility she takes seriously. “I strive to be a classy and respectful player who represents them well,” she said.

With a focus on faith, family, and hard work, Avery Probst continues to make an impact both on and off the basketball court, inspiring those around her to give their best every day.
