The Comanche Indians kicked off their 2025 football season with a strong statement, defeating S&S Consolidated Schools of Sadler, Texas, 33-20 in a hard-fought contest. The victory set a positive tone for the season and showcased the depth and talent of the Oklahoma squad under the direction of head coach Gary Robinson.
“It’s always good to win the first game of the season,” Robinson said. “It gets the season started with momentum and positivity.”

Several players stood out as key contributors in the Indians’ season opener. Junior quarterback Carson Vansickle made his first start at the position and delivered a standout performance, running for three touchdowns and passing for another. Running back and linebacker Erik Roy was equally impressive, powering the offense on the ground while anchoring the defense with physical play. Rylan White made a critical impact with an interception returned for a touchdown and also contributed on offense with a scoring reception. Cooper Dobbins shone on both sides of the ball, providing a steady presence for the Indians.
Despite traveling out of state, the Comanche Indians didn’t let the Texas setting intimidate them. “We really didn’t think too much about it,” Robinson said. “We game planned and practiced as usual. A win against a Texas team is just as exciting as winning in Oklahoma.”

With two more non-district games against Wynnewood and Kingston before an open date, the team is focused on growth and preparation. Robinson emphasized that the goal is to compete, play hard, and improve with each contest. “We want to be a better team going into district play because of the non-district games,” he said.
As far as the season outlook, Robinson prefers to take things one game at a time. “We never talk about how far we can go in a season. We work hard every day to get better,” he said.
The Indians’ opening win provides a promising glimpse of the talent and determination of this year’s squad. If the first game is any indication, Comanche is poised to be a competitive team throughout the season, taking each challenge in stride and striving for continuous improvement.
