A cheerleading team plays a big role in the success and support of an athletic program. They are there to cheer on the school’s teams while also competing in their own competitions. Head coach Britany Taylor says that she has a solid group this season, and she looks to have a successful year.
“My squad this year will be full of Blue Devil spirit and pride in what we do,” Taylor said. “We have already started the season at UCA cheer camp, where we received a first-place trophy in our cheer performance and a second place trophy in our dance performance. This season, we will be working on incorporating more stunts into our sideline routines!! I’m super excited to work with the girls in my squad this year because they are willing to do whatever I ask with enthusiasm and respect.”
This year’s cheer squad is fortunate to have strong leaders who bring spirit, determination, and skill to the team. Senior Captain Tana Martin sets the tone with her energy and encouragement, always willing to put in the extra hours to ensure the squad’s success. Her leadership was recognized at UCA Cheer Camp, where she earned the Pin It Forward Award, a testament to her ability to inspire those around her.
Alongside her, Olivia Southward, a junior, continues to raise the bar with her dedication. She competed for the All-American title at UCA Cheer Camp and proudly earned the award, showcasing her commitment to excellence. Olivia’s hard work and finesse shine through in every gameday routine. Senior Keirra Moody also earned All-American honors at camp, demonstrating her persistence and drive. Known for her determination, Keirra embodies the mindset that if one goal doesn’t come easily, she’ll work tirelessly to achieve another. Together, these athletes bring talent, heart, and leadership that elevate the entire squad.
