Making a name for himself as a standout two-sport athlete, Jagger Sanner competes in both football and golf at Velma-Alma High School. On the football field, Jagger plays quarterback and linebacker, demonstrating leadership, toughness, and a competitive drive that fuels his performance. On the golf course, he applies the same focus and dedication, learning from the older players at his home course and refining his game to reach new heights.
For Jagger, a sophomore, motivation comes from a love of competition. “I love to compete,” he said simply, and that competitive spirit has pushed him to constantly improve. He draws inspiration from Kyle Palaco, an All-State quarterback whose success shows that players of similar size can excel at the position. In golf, he credits the mentorship of the older men at his home course for teaching him the intricacies of the sport.
Jagger also acknowledges the impact of his teachers, especially his AG teacher, Mr. Davies, who has instilled in him the importance of small actions and the values that make a person successful both on and off the field. “He has taught me how to become a good man,” Jagger said.
Success, in Jagger’s eyes, comes down to hard work and dedication. That mindset has already led to career highlights, including qualifying for the State Golf Tournament, a milestone that reflects both his talent and his commitment to the game. On the football field, he enjoys every challenge, saying he doesn’t like to lose and wants to beat every opponent he faces.
Jagger’s drive is reinforced by the people around him. His brother Ryker pushes him to improve every day, while teammate Ty Brant earns recognition for showing up consistently, ready to work and get better. Off the field, Jagger is involved in Beta Club and National Honor Society, balancing academics with athletics through focus and organization.
For Jagger, representing Velma-Alma is about more than wearing the jersey. “I take pride in representing my school and community and being the best version of myself,” he said. Whether on the field or the course, Jagger Sanner embodies determination, leadership, and a passion for competition that sets him apart as one of Velma-Alma’s rising stars.
