Altus’ Hayden Castillo – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Isaiah’s Auto Body & Collision Repair

Hayden Castillo, a junior at Altus High School, is the definition of a multi-sport athlete and a true competitor. She excels in volleyball, basketball, and track, showcasing her versatility and relentless work ethic across all seasons. On the volleyball court, Hayden plays every position, a testament to her athleticism and adaptability. On the hardwood, she serves as a point guard, shooting guard, and occasionally steps into the post. During track season, she sprints in the 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 relays, and competes in the open 400 meters.

Her motivation comes from a strong foundation—her faith and her family. “My biggest influence is the Lord,” Hayden says. “My family and the Lord motivate me daily.” She draws inspiration from role models like Kobe Bryant for his “Mamba Mentality,” Grace Lyons for her Christ-centered lifestyle, and her aunt and uncle, who consistently set a powerful example in everyday life.

Hayden’s journey hasn’t been without challenges. After undergoing surgery for a torn meniscus, she worked tirelessly to return in time for the playoffs, proving her resilience. Despite missing part of the season, she earned First Team All-District 5A-2 honors last year and Third Team All-District as a freshman.

One of her favorite rivalries is with Duncan and MacArthur—teams that bring out her competitive edge. In practice, she’s pushed the most by teammate Kyerra Osborn, who matches her intensity and keeps her sharp.

Beyond athletics, Hayden is involved in the National Honor Society, Link Crew, and her church youth group at First Baptist Church. She attributes her success to effective time management, daily discipline, and consistently showing up ready to grow. A standout teacher in her life is Ms. Latham, who’s always supported her and offered honest guidance.

To Hayden, representing Altus is an honor. “It means a lot to me. I love the feeling of playing for a team and community that feels like family.” Above all, she strives to live for Jesus and be the best version of herself every day, on and off the field.
