Duncan High School freshman Laykn Reed is a multisport athlete, participating in both softball and track for the Duncan High School Demons. In softball, Laykn plays the position of softball, and in track, Laykan runs 4×1, 4×2, 100, and 200, Many would consider Laykn a sports veteran, playing softball for 11 years, and running track for 4 years.
Laykn is proud to represent her school and community as a student athlete. Laykn proclaimed, “Being in the spotlight as a student athlete, means that I am playing/running for more than just myself. I am playing/running for my teammates, school, and community. It is about showing team pride, commitment, and using the talents and gifts that God has given me for His glory. “
As far as her biggest role models, Laykn looks towards family. Laykn stated, “My biggest role models are my dad and pawpaw! They are my biggest role models because they always push me to be my best and learn to work hard for what you have!”
In terms of a teacher having the greatest impact on her life, Laykn explained, “The teacher that has had the greatest impact on me is my 9th grade English teacher Mrs. Phillips. She has always been so patient with me and so kind!”
In regards to what it has taken for Laykn to become successful in sports, Laykn stated, “It has taken to drive to want to do it. It takes a good work ethic, having a good attitude, and giving your best effort.”
Many memories are made in high school sports, and for Laykn there is an event that stands out to her the most. Laykn stated, “My favorite memory was beating Guthrie in the first round of the softball state tournament.”
Besides being a multisport athlete at Duncan High School, Laykn is also involved in The Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
After graduating from high school, Laykn plans on continuing her education, as well as eventually becoming an entrepreneur. Laykn stated, “My plans are to go to esthetician school and run my own salon one day.”
