There are many benefits to being a part of a team. You learn how to work with a group of people towards a common goal. Along with that, Faith Bales says that she has enjoyed building relationships with her teammates.
“It has been such an amazing opportunity to be able to cheer with my team,” Bales said. “I have loved chatting on the bus rides there and back and have made many connections. Never be scared to try something new because you never know what you might gain.”
Faith is a senior at Sayre High School. Along with cheer, she is also involved in the band and art.
Being a successful cheerleader is about more than just showing up to football and basketball games and cheering on their team. There is a lot of hard work and preparation that is vital to their success.
“It takes a lot of dedication to become good at any sport,” Bales said. “There are many cheers we have to know to be able to perform at games. We might make it seem easy, but it’s quite difficult.”

Bales has been blessed with some outstanding people in her life that have helped shape her into the person that she is.
“My mom is my biggest influence,” she stated. “She is always pushing me to do what is right. She helps me achieve all of my goals. She is a positive person and can always tell me what I need to do in any situation. The teacher that has made the biggest impact on my life would be Mrs. Hunter. She has taught me the most out of all of my teachers. She truly cares about her students and how much they are learning. She loves helping us better understand math. She once told me ‘crying isn’t going to solve anything’. At the time I thought that wasn’t nice but it is true. Every time I’m struggling I remember her saying that and I know that there is always a solution to any problem.”
When she is on her social media, Faith has a number of people that she likes to follow.
“My favorite person on social media is Kouvr,” she said. “She radiates positive vibes. She is an outgoing person and reminds me to always be open to trying new things.”
