Rush Springs High School junior Jake Tumblson is a member of the football, track, and powerlifting teams, all while being a member of National Honor Society and FFA.
Tumblson was introduced to FFA at a young age and with some encouragement from his father, Tumblson made the decision to join. Now he’s an officer in the chapter.
“I was first introduced into FFA in 8th grade. My family grows watermelons so when I moved to Rush Springs in the 8th grade my dad encouraged me to take AG classes and get into the FFA,” Tumblson said. “I am a chapter officer which I am the Sentinel, so I work any events out chapter hold, and I am involved in land judging this year.”
Something Tumblson said he loves about the program are the people. He recommends anyone interested in FFA to give it a try.
“My fellow members, everybody helps each other out, and always open to new members,” Tumblson said. “I highly encourage joining the FFA you learn so many skills and meet many people, and it opens up for people to do so many cool activities.”
Tumblson said his father is a source for inspiration in FFA and in athletics.
“My dad [Joe Tumblson] taught me to be a hard worker and tough, he taught me a lot the of skills I use every day.”
The junior plans to attend college at Oklahoma State University, but before he leaves Rush Springs for Stillwater, Tumblson is looking forward to competing in track this season.
“I throw disc, throw shot and occasionally run the 100 when coach Beard tells me to.”
