It was during her freshman year when now sophomore Kelley Ogle decided to join FFA thanks to the encouragement of a teacher at Eisenhower High School.
“I did Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the FFA Creed,” said Ogle. “One of my Ag teachers, Mrs. Wilkinson encouraged me to join.”
Since that time, Ogle has learned many new things and met many people from across the state.
“Being able to learn more about stuff I never would have thought involved Agriculture, as well as meeting and making lifelong friends all over the state through FFA is what I’ve enjoyed the most,” Ogle said. “For Lawton’s Agriculture, instead of having a singular school’s chapter we have all three schools combined, so it’s Lawton FFA. But within the chapter I am a Chapter officer, my position being Secretary. Whilst I wasn’t able to do much with SAE’s this year due to time restrictions I do plan to raise and show pigs my junior year.”
Soccer is another passion of Ogle’s and being a member of the varsity team is has been a great experience and one she wants to continue for the rest of her days at Eisenhower.
“I have started both years I’ve been playing with Ike. After high school I plan to go to a college. Which one right now, I’m not entirely sure, but I do hope I can commit to a college for soccer. While I’m there I’ll be majoring/studying in the field of Criminal Justice,” said Ogle.
As for new students becoming members of FFA, Ogle offers this advice. “It’s one of the best experiences you can get out of high school. You’ll learn amazing communication skills; you’ll also know how to properly hold yourself and speak in front of a group of people or judges. As well as you’ll make an insane amount of friends, and they’ll stick with you your entire way through your FFA journey,” said Ogle.
