Ryan Cowgirls – Girls Basketball Team Preview

RYAN COWGIRLS

GIRLS

Coach: Rob Lancaster

23-24 Record: 21-7

Last season, the Cowgirls advanced to the Area round of the playoffs before making an exit. Head coach Rob Lancaster says that while his team may be young, it does not mean that they will not compete. “The Cowgirls return four of five starters,” he said. “We are still a young team with three quick, defensive minded guards, two of which are just sophomores and one is a junior. We will be relying on a freshmen forward to step into a third scoring option and a handful of other girls to provide much needed depth. Starting at point guard will be Micah Villarreal (5-6, So.). She is just a sophomore but is a strong offensive and defensive player. She is very competitive and sets high standards for her teammates. Micah is learning to trust teammates, rely on them, and put each of them in the best possible situations within the game. Kamrie Hernandez (5-4, Jr.) is a very quick, athletic junior guard who has a good all around game. She averaged 10 points a game as a sophomore along with just over four steals a game. A freshman looking to make an impact is Crosby Casebolt (5-8, Fr.), who adds some size and length to the team. She is quick and attacks on offense and she is very competitive and a hard  worker. Tianna Galindo (5-3, So.) is a very quick and relentless guard. She attacks everything she does. She forces a lot of turnovers as she is constantly harassing ball handlers. She has steadily improved her offensive game to be more of a scoring threat this season. Kylee Charmasson (5-6, Sr.) is a senior starter. She works hard and does all of the little things. She does not seek to do things outside of what is asked of her, she knows her role and embraces it. She leads by example and makes good decisions for the team. Other players looking to contribute this season are Imrie Hernandez (5-3, Fr.), Kayleigh Hodges (5-5, Jr.), Raley Lancaster (5-8, So.), Hannah Spence (5-7, Sr.), Lilah Regehr (5-5, So.), Lynnlee Tomberlin (5-8, Jr.), and Bryer Rodriquez (5-6, So.).
