Kameran Delaune is a dual sport athlete for Olustee-Eldorado High School, playing basketball and running track. He says that in order for him to be at his best when he competes, he has to put in the work and prepare.
“Every Sunday I go to church and then from 4:00PM to 6:00PM, I always get to the gym and work on my basketball game by playing ball and scrimmaging. For track, I run a lot and try to better my time. Both sports take a lot of hard work in order to be at my best.”
Delaune is in his junior year and along with sports, he is also a member of the Academic Team, Upward Bound, and the Gifted and Talented program.
There have been a number of people that have impacted Kameron’s life and helped him become the person and athlete that he is today.
“Coach Witt has been a role model for me to look up to,” he said. “He is always there and always helps me even if I run a play wrong or miss a shot. Another would be one of my teachers, Mr. Ford. He taught me a lot about finances and he was also my coach for track so he gave me a lot of tips. He told me about his life and told me everything I should do up to this point.”
Playing for his school and community is something that Delaune is proud to be able to do.
“It means the world to me because I have some people looking up to me and I have some people wishing on my downfall,” he said. “But I’m always out there to play for my school and bring them wins and always have fun while doing it.”
In order to be able to compete for his teams, Kameron knows that his school work has to be a priority.
“I usually have all my work done as soon as I get to all my activities,” he said. “I have about two hours to get everything done then I usually go to basketball.”
