2024 Cache Football Preview- Presented by Nancy Holcomb – State Farm Insurance

CACHE BULLDOGS

Coach: FARON GRIFFIN

6-5

OFFENSE

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the Cache football program as they prepare for the 2024 season. After an early first round playoff exit last season, head coach Faron Griffin’s program is ready to get back on the field and show that their hard work has paid off. “We are excited for the season,” Griffin said. “We were relatively young last year, and we came on strong at the end of the season. We went 5-2 in district play. We won our last three regular season games, including a huge victory over district champion Clinton. We were defeated by the eventual State Champions, Blanchard, in the first round. We held them to a 7-0 score at half time. Our team is hungry, the program is back on track, and we are excited.” Leading the offense at quarterback will be Canden Hance (6-0, 160, Sr.). Joining him in the backfield are running backs Christian Bennett (6-0, 185, Sr.) and Mike Rodriguez (5-7, 160, Sr.). Bennett is a strong and fast athlete that has a great motor, while Rodriguez is a hard worker that is coming off an injury last season but is ready to get back on the field this season. The Bulldogs also have a couple of solid receivers on the outside. Luke Montgomery (6-0, 165, Sr.) and De Andre Fraiser (6-2, 158, Jr.) will both work to get the ball in space. Anchoring things on the offensive line will be Braxton Jackson (6-3, 230, Jr.).

DEFENSE

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs will be more physical and hope to slow down opposing offenses. Leading the defense from the linebacker spot will be three guys that are physical and are solid football players. Ben Angiel (5-10, 175, Sr.), Mario Femero (5-8, 175, Jr.), and Case Hardzog (5-10, 180, Jr.). Doing the dirty work up front and wreaking havoc on their opponents are the defensive lineman. Paulus Cash (6-2, 190, Jr.) and Bennett will both play the edge position, while Marshall Downing (6-3, 220, Jr.) can play anywhere on the line. All three are expected to make big impacts on the defense this season. Assistant coaches this season are Eric Gibson, Tanner Thompson, Les Abboott, Landen Abbott, Mike Fletcher, Grant Zimmerman, and Greg Ellis
