Weatherford’s Ky Warner – Football Spotlight

Every high school has athletes who stand out, but Weatherford High School senior Ky Warner has made his mark through more than just stats and scoreboard moments. As a wide receiver and defensive back for the Weatherford Eagles, Ky combines athleticism, leadership, and drive, qualities that also define him as a member of the track and field team, where he excels in running and jumping events.

Ky’s motivation is rooted deeply in his family, who inspire him to chase success both on and off the field.

“My family keeps me going,” Ky says. “I want them to see me succeed and be proud of what I’ve accomplished.”

Over the years, Ky has been shaped by strong mentors who have played key roles in his growth as both an athlete and a person. He credits his head coach, Taylor Sossamon, and wide receivers coach, Cade Balenti, as major influences on his journey.

“They’ve pushed me to become the best version of myself,” Ky explains. “Our bond has grown a lot, and I’ve learned so much from them about football and life.”

Another person who has made a lasting impact is his sophomore math teacher, Mrs. Musick, who taught him the value of hard work and persistence in everything he does.

“That dedication paid off in a big way this past season,” Ky says proudly.

One of Ky’s highlight moments came when Weatherford defeated Blanchard in the first round of the playoffs, marking the school’s first postseason victory since 2019.

“It was an awesome feeling,” he recalls. “Knowing we were part of history is something I’ll never forget.”

Off the field, Ky is an active member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and serves on the Football Leadership Council, roles that reflect his dedication to teamwork and character. Balancing sports and academics is no easy task, but Ky takes pride in handling both with focus and determination.

“It’s a big responsibility,” he says. “But when we win, the feeling is incredible, like all the hard work and pressure were worth it.”

With his leadership, determination, and heart, Ky Warner truly embodies what it means to be an Eagle.
