Weatherford’s Blakely Jackson

By Elizabeth Contreras

Sophomore Blakely Jackson represents the true spirit of a Weatherford Eagle, bringing vibrant energy and dedication to every part of her high school journey.

With three years in cheer and two in FFA, she has found her stride managing two different communities, both defined by positivity and service. Cheer came naturally for Jackson. She’d done it when she was younger, loved being loud, and followed friends into the program; but it quickly became more than that.

“In cheer, I’m a backspot, so I call the counts for everyone most of the time,” she said. In a role where communication is fundamental, Jackson’s voice has become a point of trust, piloting her teammates through each stunt with consistency and confidence.

Those skills carried over into other areas of her life, including FFA. After serving as president during her freshman year and participating in opening and closing ceremonies, she is now part of Agricultural Communications, learning new skills while continuing to lead by example. Regardless of the audience, Jackson strives to help when needed, lead with enthusiasm, and make the people around her better.

With the demands of multiple programs, Jackson draws strength and motivation from her beliefs while intentionally empowering others.

“I stay motivated by praying and reading my Bible, and also by being the one to give compliments and hyping others up!”

Some of Jackson’s favorite memories include qualifying for State twice in the same year and the unforgettable bus ride when cheer props tumbled onto the highway mid-trip. Attending the FFA State Convention and connecting with students from across Oklahoma remains a highlight of her Ag experience.

When it comes to teamwork, she feels it most in cheer, where daily practices naturally build trust and close connections. Though managing both commitments can be challenging, she said it has without doubt been worth it.

“It has made me a more social person and a better leader,” she said.

The experiences in both programs have shaped the way she supports others, strengthening her ability to listen, encourage her teammates, and step up whenever someone needs a helping hand. Her devotion not only to excellence but also to uplifting others unquestionably reflects Weatherford High School at its best.
