The bright lights, the roar of the crowd, and the spirit of teamwork — for Weatherford High School cheerleader Ava Mosier, those moments are what make all the hard work worth it. “My mindset is to make sure to do my best and yell loud!” she said with a smile. Whether she’s on the sidelines or competing, Ava’s energy and determination never waver, and her presence is felt throughout the entire squad.
As a dedicated athlete, Ava has clear goals for herself this season. “My personal goal for this year is to make myself better in jumps, stunting, and tumbling,” she said. “Another goal is to have a roundoff back tuck in football season next year.” That drive to continually improve is matched by a team that shares her same passion and positivity. “The team morale has been great!” Ava said. “We have been so positive and encouraging to each other.”
That encouragement has helped the Weatherford cheer squad reach new heights — literally. “We have definitely improved on our stunts,” she said. “We have gotten way farther than we were at the end of the season last year.” The group has also been focused on their competition routines, pushing themselves toward excellence. “Our team goals are to get better at competitions, so we have been working hard on our competition pieces!”
For Ava, teamwork and reliability are at the heart of her role. “I would believe my role is the one who you could tell to do something, and I would do it without hesitation,” she said. “I base on the sidelines sometimes, back spot in competitions, and spot anyone who needs it!” Her versatility and dedication make her a key part of the team’s success.
Ava’s focus goes beyond just the technical aspects of cheer. She values the bond and trust built within the squad. “Our team’s biggest strength is our stunts and our community,” she said. “Outsiders may not know how long we work on our routines. We may look effortless doing them, but we put a lot of time and effort into it.”
When it’s all said and done, Ava hopes to be remembered for her commitment and heart. “I want my legacy to be that I was the girl who did her best and gave her all,” she said. “I want to be remembered as the person who would do anything for the team and strive to always be better than yesterday.”
Beyond cheer, Ava stays involved at Weatherford as a soccer manager, band member, and part of Youth and Government. After high school, she plans to pursue a career as either a chiropractor or esthetician — continuing to make an impact wherever her next chapter takes her.
