OUTLOOK
The Mountain View–Gotebo Tigers enter the new season with momentum, maturity, and an influx of talent that has head coach Breck Clark confident in the direction of the program. With every player returning from last year and five key additions, the Tigers are positioned to take a major step forward. “We have all returning players from last year’s team including five new pieces that will significantly impact our season including two freshmen, our 6’7 post player returning from injury, a move in with high IQ and presence, and an exchange student with a lot of athleticism and ball handling,” Clark said. “With only one senior on the team, the next two years are looking bright.”
Senior Mason Smith leads the roster as the team’s lone 12th grader, bringing poise and experience to a group anchored by youth. Junior Trigger Troglin adds another strong veteran presence as the Tigers build around their underclass core.
One of the most impactful returners is Ainsley Harmon, a sophomore shooting guard. Harmon led MVG in scoring last season as a freshman while also posting team-best marks in three-point percentage and steals, finishing as the second-leading rebounder as well. His defensive ability stood out all year as he consistently guarded opponents’ top scoring threats. Recognized as a VYPE Newcomer of the Year nominee and a Caddo County All-Tournament selection, Harmon’s offseason focus has set the stage for a breakout year. “Ainsley has worked all off season in the weight room and gym,” Clark said. “With added weight and speed, he is looking to have a breakout sophomore season.”
Freshman Asher Schmidt, the team’s Underclassman to Watch, brings immediate excitement with his scoring ability and athleticism. Averaging 23 points per game in junior high, Schmidt’s length, vertical, and shooting efficiency make him a true difference-maker from day one. “Asher will be a huge gamechanger this year for our team,” Clark said. “He has a chance to make an immediate impact at the high school level.”
Rounding out the leadership group is Robert Williams, the team’s Character Counts selection. His work ethic and selflessness set the tone for the entire roster. “One of the best kids you’ll ever meet,” Clark said. “He is coachable, hardworking, and levelheaded… I couldn’t think of someone more deserving of a character award.”
With returning experience, emerging stars, and new depth at every position, the Tigers are built for a big step forward — not just this year, but for seasons to come.
