Merritt High School junior Ainsley Partain is a member of the FFA chapter and a varsity basketball player. Partain got involved in both FFA and basketball when she was very young.
“I got into FFA when I was a little kid. My family-owned a ranch and I showed pigs. My dad was the one who originally encouraged to join FFA and my past Ag instructor, Ms. Newman, also was a big part in the encouraging me,” said Partain.
As a member of the FFA chapter, Partain said she has enjoyed the experiences FFA can provide a student.
“My favorite thing about being in FFA is being able to gain new experiences that will help me further on in my life, and of course hanging out with my fellow members,” Partain said. “The activities I am involved with in FFA is taking farm business management tests, leadership conferences, and planning and organizing events with my fellow officers.”
FFA is not her only activity around campus. Partain is involved in other groups and clubs like Key Club and FCA.
“I am involved in is Key Club and FCA. I am the webmaster for Key Club. I make all of the social media posts and updates and I run our website,” said Partain.
On the court, Partain said she started her basketball journey at a very young age.
“The first time I got involved in basketball was probably in Pre- K or kindergarten. I was in a TOT (teams of tomorrow) program until elementary basketball started,” said Partain.
Now a small forward on the varsity team, Partain said she is excited for the new season.
“My teammates are my best friends. We are all really close and we have that bond that will take us far in our future. I am looking forward to playing with best friends on the court again and working hard and doing my best but also having fun.”
Her plans after graduation include attending Oklahoma State and get a degree.
