Every golf tournament is an opportunity for Kaidynce Cordell to meet new people. Kaidynce is a freshman at Elk City High School and relatively new to golf. She started playing in 2024 when she says her dad’s “obsession” with golf started. “He got me into playing and I’m so grateful he did. It has taught me more life lessons than any other sport has.”
One life lesson she learned is to never expect the same results every day. “Some days I go out to the golf course and play great, while other days I play awful. This just shows that in life we go through bad days but we have to keep going in order to get to the good ones,” said Kaidynce.
Representing ECHS as an athlete is about more than athletic ability and winning. “To me, it’s about having sportsmanship on and off the course and knowing I gave it my all every day, impacting the people around me,” she said.
This is Kaidynce’s first year playing and her team is off to a good start. “Winning our first tournament of the season and beating their lowest score from last season has really encouraged me to never give up,” she says.
She is passionate about golf. “It requires you to control your mind and focus on the good, no matter how bad it gets.” The best advice, she says, is “never expect someone to do something for you or give you everything you need. You have to learn to get comfortable being uncomfortable and learn to earn the things you want.”
Erin Womack is a teammate who leaves a big impression. “Her personality and the way she strives to get better is amazing. She always puts God first and never gives up. She is truly a person I strive to be like,” said Kaidynce.
Kaidynce’s dad is the biggest role model in her life. “He puts his all into everything he does and figures it out no matter the circumstances. I look up to him big time because he teaches me to never get down on myself and keep going through every obstacle.
“I wanna thank my parents for always supporting me in everything I do, whether successful or unsuccessful, they push me to keep going and are the biggest role models in my life. I also want to thank my coaches for helping me become a better athlete and never giving up on me,” she said.
