Elk City’s Graham Easttom – Basketball Spotlight – Presented by Lipscomb Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Elk City

“Our chemistry is going to be really good,” said Elk City High School basketball player Graham Easttom, describing the close bond between him and his teammates. “We are all really good friends, and we love playing ball together.” For Easttom, that sense of camaraderie makes every practice, game, and long bus ride more meaningful, cementing memories with his best friends.

Easttom’s love for basketball began early. “Ever since I was little, I’ve always played sports, and when I was about four or five, I played basketball and just fell in love with it,” he recalled. His father, who also played basketball, had a major influence on his journey. “Just seeing it on TV and my dad influenced me a lot because he played, and he’s taught me a lot of the game.”

As a key player for Elk City, Easttom takes pride in his defensive contributions. “I’d say my main role is definitely defending the ball and holding my man to a minimum scoring, but I just try to impact the game as best as I can.” His goal for the 2024 season is straightforward: “I hope to make it to playoffs and have an overall successful year.”

Easttom’s dedication to basketball is evident in his daily routine. “I lift at 6 a.m., then we have practice with the team after school, and most of the time I will stay after and get some shots up.” His commitment goes beyond regular workouts—he understands that hard work is essential. “It’s not going to be easy in any way. You’re going to have to work and put extra time in, not just in the gym but the weights.”

Looking ahead, Easttom hopes to play at the collegiate level. “I would love to play some sport in college. I would just be blessed with the opportunity to play at the next level.” In five years, he envisions himself studying finance in college while continuing his athletic career.

Easttom’s parents are his biggest supporters. “I want to thank my parents for always loving me and supporting me in anything I do. I love you, Mom and Dad.” His father, who was also his favorite teacher, has been a profound influence. “My favorite teacher was my dad. He was a great science teacher, but he is also a great teacher about life, and he has taught me so much about everything.”

As the season unfolds, Easttom is eager to create new memories and make the most of every opportunity. “There isn’t much to look back at yet, but I am really looking forward to this season.”
