Elk City’s Erin Womack – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Great Plains Bank

Junior Erin Womack enters the golf season with clear targets for herself and her Elk City teammates. “My personal goals for this season are to continue improving my scores, and stay mentally strong throughout the season, and be a consistent contributor to my team,” she said.

Progress shows up in measurable ways. “Our biggest improvement has been consistency,” she said. “Everyone has been working hard in practice and in their own time, and it’s starting to show in our scores and how we handle pressure during tournaments.”

State remains the ultimate target, but daily growth matters just as much. “Our main goal every year is to make it to state, but to also improve our individual game,” Womack said. “We have been working towards this by practicing consistently and encouraging one another.”

Drive to win bonds the group together. “I think our team strength is how competitive we are,” she said. “Everyone wants to succeed, and we push each other to keep getting better.” Womack plays her part with steady leadership. “My role on the team is to compete, represent Elk City well, and help encourage my teammates,” she said. “I try to bring a positive attitude and stay focused so I can contribute the best scores I can for the team.”

Tough layouts demand smart play. “When I face a new or challenging course, I always do a lot of research and play it safe,” Womack said. Preparation starts well before tee time. “I focus on staying warmed up before rounds and I always hydrate and rest the night before,” she said.

Faith anchors her mental approach. “When I step on the course, my mindset is to play with confidence, stay focused, and trust the work I’ve put in,” she said. “My faith is also important to me, so I try to represent Jesus in the way I compete—by showing good sportsmanship, staying positive, and treating others with respect. I remind myself to play with gratitude and give my best effort no matter the outcome.”

Off the course, the team keeps things light. “Something fans might not know about our team is we are very goofy!” Womack said. “We are always laughing and joking around, you will never see one of us without a smile on our face.”

Road trips create lasting memories. “My favorite memories in the brown and white have been the car rides to and from tournaments,” she said. “There is never a dull moment with Coach Poole driving!” Beyond golf, Womack stays active. “I am a member of the chamber choir, and I am the worship leader for FCA. I want to continue playing golf at a collegiate level and major in elementary education.”
