OUTLOOK

For second-year head coach Colby Love, this season brings a mix of experience and excitement as the Cordell Lady Blue Devils look to build on last year’s progress. With a strong returning core and promising young talent, the Lady Blue Devils are poised to take the next step.
“I’m excited for this season!” said coach Love. “We return our leading scorers, Calliy Walker and Birdie Brown, plus three starters from last year. Our talented freshmen will add depth and energy. We plan to play tough defense and push a fast-paced offense. I can’t wait to see this team grow and compete at a high level all season.”

At the center of the Lady Blue Devils’ offense is Calliy Walker (5-6, Jr.), a dual threat point guard. Walker’s ability to score or create for others makes her a nightmare for opposing defenses. “Calliy is a hard worker who consistently gives her all in practice and games,” said Love. “Her leadership and determination make her a key player for our team this season.”

Joining Walker in the backcourt is Birdie Brown (5-7, Sr.), the team’s leading scorer for the past two seasons and an emotional leader for Cordell. “Birdie works hard, sets the tone for the team, and consistently steps up in big moments,” said Love. “Her scoring ability and leadership make her a cornerstone of our team this season.”

Tralynn Moss (5-5, So.) headlines the underclassmen group. “Tralynn is an outstanding shooting guard who can get her shot off in a hurry,” said Love. “She’s extremely athletic and a strong, lockdown defender. Her speed and defensive intensity make her a major asset for us this season.”

The Lady Blue Devils’ defensive identity will rely on discipline and effort from players like Diane Palmerton (5-7, Jr.), who embodies what Cordell basketball is all about. “Diane is our glue player,” said Love. “She quietly holds the team together with her effort and consistency. Her dedication and reliability are key to our success this season.”
With returning experience and new energy from underclassmen, coach Love’s squad is ready to make noise in 2025-26.
