As a freshman, Gavin Bradshaw looks forward to creating a legacy at Elk City High School. He says teams are at their greatest when individual talent comes together to succeed.
Gavin plays multiple sports for ECHS. He is a shooting guard for the Big Elk basketball team. He also plays forward on the soccer team. Playing sports has taught him discipline, hard work, determination and grit.
His passion for sports is simple, “I enjoy it,” says Gavin. This passion started in the second grade. He recalls having so much fun playing on the playground that he wanted to continue playing on teams as he grew up.
Gavin has been shaped by many different people he admires. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Orgain. “She was always positive and upbeat,” he said. The professional athlete he looks up to is former Thunder player, Russell Westbrook. Gavin appreciates the great things Westbrook did for Oklahoma.
When it comes to the teammate who leaves the biggest impression, Gavin could not pick just one. He had to choose two, Boston Stover and Parker Felts. “We have played well together for so long,” he said.
His favorite game memory goes back to the sixth grade. “We won the Clinton End of Season Tournament, and I hit a late three-pointer to change the outcome of the game!” Gavin exclaimed. These unexpected moments are often the most memorable. He says the best advice given to him is that “low expectations are the key to happiness.”
Gavin says the best food in the world is cheese pizza from New York City and his destination for a perfect summer vacation is Orlando, Florida with his friends.
In addition to school sports, Gavin is on the academic team and plays club soccer. His family makes it possible to stay involved in his activities. “I would like to thank my family for their support and encouragement.”
