There is a lot that is required to be a successful athlete, it is not something that just happens overnight. There are hours of hard work and practice, and preparing for competitions. Grayson Hale knows what it takes, and he also says you have to know what you are playing for.
“It has taken a life of playing and practice,” he said. “Listening to coaches’ advice and being open to criticism when I am wrong. My biggest motivation is to glorify Jesus Christ on and off the field.
Grayson is a senior at Weatherford High School, where he plays center defensive midfielder for the soccer team. He is also involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Weatherford E-Sports team.
There have been people in his life that have made an impact on him becoming who he is today. But Grayson has a couple that have made a bigger impact.
“My biggest role model would be Grandpa Doug,” he said. “His guidance and servitude he has provided in my life. Also, Nate Devaughan, my best friend, inspires me to be better every day. My favorite teacher would be Mrs. Weiberg because she has helped me develop into an adult and got me to like English more than I ever have.”
Throughout his career, Hale has made a lot of memories with his teammates, but he has a couple that stand out as his favorites.
“I think the highlight of my career would have to be playing last year with my best friends and winning our Eagle Classic Tournament,” he recalled. “Also, beating Woodward last year after not winning for a while was good too.”
Hale says that he is thankful for the teammates that he competes alongside.
“Practicing against Jacoby Welsh was a real challenge,” he said. “He is the best player I’ve ever shared a field with and made me work harder than ever. All the freshmen don’t get enough credit. As freshmen they have to do all the stuff nobody wants to do, getting balls, waters, pennie’s.”
