WEATHERFORD CHEER

COACH: Rachel Hines

OUTLOOK

After taking a two-year hiatus from competitive cheer, the Weatherford High School cheer team made a triumphant return to the mat last season — finishing as the regional runner-up in small coed and securing a fifth-place finish at state in the small coed division. Now, under the leadership of head coach Rachel Hines, the program is shifting focus to the upcoming game day competition, bringing renewed energy and confidence into the year.

“WHS Cheer is now gearing up to compete in the game day competition,” said Hines.

At the heart of Weatherford’s success is Anahi Nunez, whose steady leadership and consistent work ethic set the tone for the entire squad. “Anahi leads by example,” Hines said. “She always does what she is supposed to and is a great role model to the team.”

While Nunez anchors the leadership core, future star Rylee Patee represents the next generation of Weatherford cheer. “Rylee is an excellent athlete,” Hines said. “She works hard to be the best and is talented in many different aspects of cheer.”

Equally important to the team’s chemistry and culture is Ava Mosier, who embodies what it means to lead with integrity. “Ava is a great athlete, but her character is what puts her apart from others,” Hines said. “She always does the right thing and works hard every practice.”

Beyond the mat, Weatherford’s Blakely Jackson, showcases the program’s well-rounded talent and commitment to excellence in all areas. “Blakely is involved in many different activities and is excellent at all of them,” said Hines.

With a roster filled with driven athletes and strong leaders like Nunez, Patee, Mosier, and Jackson, the Weatherford cheer program is once again proving its competitive edge. Coach Hines’ emphasis on discipline, leadership, and character has reignited a proud tradition at WHS — one built on teamwork and the relentless pursuit of excellence.

As the team heads into the game day season, there’s no doubt Weatherford Cheer is ready to make its mark once again under Hines’ guidance.
