SAYRE EAGLES

Coach: CRAIG HIXON

4-5

OFFENSE

The Sayre Eagles are aiming for a playoff berth this season, bringing more experience to the field despite still being a young team. “We are still a young team but bring more experience after last season. Our offensive line will be our strength with a strong rotation of quality running backs to carry the ball,” head coach Craig Hixon said. The offense features standout players like running back Zane Allen (5-11, 180, Sr.), offensive lineman KK Beaird (5-10, 220, Sr.), running back Jaden Mosser (5-7, 135, So.), fullback Zeke Curtis (5-10, 200, Jr.), tight end Brayden Mossburg (6-3, 180, Jr.), and quarterback Cam Plummer (5-8, 150, Jr.). “We are a run-heavy team with a slow, methodical approach,” Hixon added. The Eagles will operate from a double wing/flex bone formation, emphasizing old-school running with off-tackle power football, complemented by counters, traps, option and play-action passing. With seven returning starters, Sayre’s offense is set to make a significant impact.

DEFENSE

Defensively, the Eagles will run a 4-4 base with strong moving fronts and hidden coverages. “We are aggressive with moving fronts and disguised coverages,” Hixon said. Key defensive players include defensive back Zane Allen, linebacker Coy Capehart (5-10, 190, So.), defensive end KK Beaird, linebacker Zeke Curtis, linebacker Dustin McSorley (5-10, 175, So.), and defensive end Brock Helton (6-1, 190, Jr.). “Zeke never misses a workout or practice,” Hixon said. “He plays any position he’s asked to play without complaint.” With seven returning starters, the defense aims to be a formidable unit throughout the season. The coaching staff includes Dakin Harris, Patton Pugh, Kyle Merrick, and Hunter Hines.
