Josie Castle (Washington High School ‘22), a third-generation University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma soon-to-be-graduate, “came to USAO on a whim.”
“I was enrolled at OU and planned to do all the big school things until a week before classes started and I started crunching numbers,” Castle said. “I am lucky enough to be on a full ride here at USAO and I will never be able to thank the regents enough for the opportunities this has given me. USAO has been the most wonderful place to go to school.”
Castle has served the university as a tour guide, orientation leader, and co-founder and president of the Treat People With Kindness Club.
“USAO has been a fantastic place to learn! The small class sizes, passionate professors and unique opportunities have made my three years here amazing,” Castle said. “The curriculum has taught me to think creatively, engage in professional conversations, and write confidently on any topic. I’m grateful for the experiences that have shaped my academic journey.”

To Castle, nothing beats the campus atmosphere in Chickasha. The opportunities at USAO are “endless,” Castle said.
“The small campus size fosters close connections between students, professors, and staff. I’ve found some of my best friends here, and the opportunities to connect with others are endless. There are so many ways to get involved,” Castle said. “You’ll be encouraged to pursue your passions and take on leadership roles, allowing you to make a real impact. At USAO, you can be a big fish in a small sea, where your ideas and ambitions have room to thrive,” Castle said. “The unique experiences and hands-on opportunities here will help you grow both academically and personally, preparing you for success.”
Castle will graduate early this spring.
“I plan to teach or work in educational technology while pursuing my master’s in education. Ultimately, I want to attend law school to specialize in education law, with the goal of working in higher education,” Castle said.
