Kingston High School junior Brock Rumer is a multisport athlete, playing both basketball and baseball for the Kingston High School Redskins. For basketball, Brock plays combo guard, while in baseball, he plays the position of shortstop. Many would consider Brock a veteran athlete, having played each sport for about 15 years.

With the basketball season starting in December, Brock is very excited to play on the court. Brock, elated, “I love playing basketball and competing. I am looking forward to this being my senior season.”

Brock is proud to represent both his school and community as a student athlete. Brock proclaimed, “It means a whole lot to me to be able to wear the name of Kingston across my chest for every game. Being able to represent the community is one of the reasons it feels good to be a Redskin. Hometown pride runs deep in Kingston. I know that if I needed anything, the community around me would be there to support me.”

Many student-athletes have a teacher or faculty member who has stood out during their academic career. Brock accounted, “The teacher that has had the biggest impact on my life was my English 3 teacher, Mrs Minor. Her class was really tough, but she always taught with a smile on her face and was always there if I needed help. The work being tough made getting a good grade that much more satisfying.”

As far as what it has taken for Brock to become successful in sports, Brock explained, “It has taken a lot of time and effort to become successful in sports. The best thing you can do to become better is to put in work.”

In addition to playing basketball and baseball, Brock is involved with other extracurricular activities. Brock stated, “I am involved in The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I help with the Kingston youth basketball program, and I help out at the elementary school for various things.”

Following his graduation from high school, Brock plans on pursuing higher education. He  stated, “After graduating, I plan on attending college to get a degree in architectural engineering.”
