Like many of her peers, Ellie Marshall of Burns Flat-Dill City High School, joined FFA at the first opportunity which came in the eighth grade. Now a senior, Marshall enters her fifth and final year of FFA. Marshall said it was an Ag instructor who encouraged her to join.

“My FFA advisor had talked to my class previously and other FFA members and it piqued my interest,” said Marshall.

For Marshall, being around friends and meeting new people while doing the activities she enjoys made FFA a great experience for her.

“What I enjoy most is the friends that I have been able to make through FFA. I have made many friends through showing, conventions, and competitions,” Marshall said. “I am the chapter reporter, I show livestock, I participate in judging teams and public speaking, as well as many different community service projects.”

Marshall is a member of the varsity basketball, softball, cross country and track teams while spending time in FCA, FFA, and student council. Marshall said anyone interested in FFA should give it a try.

“You should join FFA because it has many different leadership activities that not only teach you how to become a better leader but includes as aspect of fun. As an FFA member you are able to compete in different events,” said Marshall.

Participating in athletics is something Marshall has enjoyed for a long time as well.

“I enjoy having a second family, the bus rides, team practices, Christmas parties, and trips we take together are always memorable,” said Marshall.

A guard on the basketball team, Marshall said she is looking forward to attending SWOSU for pre-pharmacy and eventually go into the pharmacy department at South Western.
