Ardmore’s Jayshon Payne – Football Spotlight – Presented by Henry Roberts Express Pharmacy

VYPE: What grade are you in, and what sports do you play?

Jayshon: I am a senior at Ardmore High School, where I play football and baseball.

VYPE: What’s your favorite part about representing your high school as an athlete?
Jayshon: Representing my school and town just feels right; it’s home. Putting on that Ardmore jersey means something special to me.

VYPE: What’s your all-time favorite meal?
Jayshon: Either chicken Alfredo or steak with a baked potato, greens, and corn. You can’t go wrong with either of those.

VYPE: What accomplishment or memory are you most proud of?
Jayshon: I’m most proud of getting Player of the Game and my stats during football season. Those moments really showed how hard work pays off.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that makes you a better person?
Jayshon: Sports have taught me patience, discipline, and to enjoy the journey. It’s not just about the wins, it’s about growing along the way.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
Jayshon: Mrs. Kana, my fifth-grade teacher at Healdton Elementary School. She always made me feel welcome and cared for her students beyond the classroom.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
Jayshon: My family. There’s no specific person; they all inspire me in different ways and keep me pushing toward my goals.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Jayshon: My old teammate, Isaiah Hernandez. He left a big impact on my play style and mindset, helping me see the game from a new perspective.

VYPE: Here’s your chance to give a shoutout or thank someone.
Jayshon: I want to give a shoutout to my mom and my family for always pushing me to be better and for all the sacrifices my mom has made. I also want to thank my godparents, who have supported me through everything.
