WYNNEWOOD
OFFENSE – The table is set in Wynnewood for big things in 2025. The Savages got off to a fast start in 2024, winning eight of their first nine games on the way to an 8-3 finish. They have the talent and experience to add even more to that total this fall. The offense will be guided by Phoenix Delaplain (6-5, 195, SR) at quarterback. Delaplain threw for 1,076 yards and 15 touchdowns a year ago. At running back, Adrian Knighten (5-9, 180, JR) brings back 1,192 yards of rushing production and 18 touchdowns. He will be pushed for playing time by Luke Stevenson (5-9, 170, SO). Add to that Briar Davenport (5-11, 180, SR) who comes to Wynnewood from Sulphur, and you have one of the most dynamic backfields in Class A. Davenport will contribute as a wildcat quarterback and at receiver. De’Zhon Jones (6-1, 215, SR) provides blocking support at H-back. Marques Williams (5-8, 150, SR) hauled in seven touchdowns and 497 yards at receiver last year. The offensive line will be a year older and more experienced. Adrian Hernandez (6-1, 250, SR) is the veteran on a group that will include promising youngsters Hunter Dotson (6-1, 260, SO) and Peyton Henderson (6-0, 200, SO)
DEFENSE – The Savages have the numbers to rest some of their offensive talent on defense. Briar Davenport won’t have that luxury. He will be utilized across the board in the secondary. Davenport can cover the opponent’s best receiver and also roam around at safety. Jett Anderson (5-11, 145, JR) was a ball-hawker last year, picking off six passes and making 78 tackles at safety. Jake Everett (5-11, 175, SR) returns with experience at both safety and nickel. Chandler Appleton (5-8, 165, SR) led the Savages in tackles in 2024 with 112. Appleton has great range and is the leader at linebacker along with De’Zhon Jones on the outside make Wynnewood strong at the second level. Cole Hildreth (6-0, 235, SR) is a menace to opposing quarterbacks. Hildreth utilized his size and instincts to make 68 tackles as a junior. Deagan Dixon (5-8, 150, SR) is an atypical noseguard. Dixon relies on quickness as opposed to brawn to disrupt the offense. Wynnewood is very talented and possesses above average depth for Class A. The Savages should be considered one of the top contenders to Rejoice Christian for the state title.
