SULPHUR BULLDOGS
Coach: COREY COLE
12-2
OFFENSE
After a thrilling run to the 2024 Class 3A state championship game, the Sulphur Bulldogs are coming back hungry, focused, and determined to take that final step in 2025. With a high-powered offense and strong leadership returning, head coach Corey Cole is confident in his team’s direction. “This team is hungry to get back to the state finals after falling just short last season,” said Cole. “Leadership has been incredible, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to get back to UCO.”
The Bulldogs return six starters on offense, including VYPE Top 100 nominee Maddax Mobly (5-9½, 185, Sr.). A versatile weapon, Mobly is the engine that drives Sulphur’s fast-paced attack. He tallied 127 carries for 963 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground, while adding 701 yards and 8 touchdowns on 37 receptions. “We are a fast-paced spread offense that loves to be balanced,” said Cole.
Keep an eye on JoJo Gray (5-11, 205, Jr.), a powerful back who emerged during last year’s playoff run. “He could have a huge junior year,” said Cole. “Super talented and strong.” Another underclassman to watch is Carter Cole (6-2, 185, So.), a dangerous and versatile athlete. “He can play multiple positions for the Bulldogs—QB, WR, FS, CB. He’s a dangerous return man and played a lot as a freshman,” said Cole.
DEFENSE
Four starters return for Sulphur’s defense, which will continue to line up in a base 4-3 and play an aggressive, attacking style. “We run a 4-3 attacking defense,” said Cole. One of the defensive leaders is Bridge Barrett (6-1, 160, Sr.), who recorded 34 tackles and 8 interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. “Great team chemistry and cohesiveness,” said Cole. “We’ll have to replace several linemen, but the majority of our skill guys are back and ready to compete.”
