MADILL WILDCATS
Coach: WADE COUCH
1-9
OFFENSE
In his second year at the helm, head coach Wade Couch is optimistic about the direction of the Madill Wildcats as they continue building from the ground up. With only two seniors on the roster, Couch is focused on developing a young core that’s committed to working hard and playing tough, physical football. “Excited to see what we can do,” said Couch. “We have a young group of kids with only two seniors that are willing to put in any and all the work necessary to have the best possible season Madill football can have.”
One of those key seniors is Landon Clutter (5-8, 200, Sr.), a bruising running back and fullback who brings experience and leadership to the Power-T offense. He’s joined in the backfield by sophomore Christian Smith (6-1, 160, So.), a promising dual-threat athlete who can line up at quarterback or wide receiver. Couch’s offensive approach is rooted in toughness and discipline. “We’re going to line up in a Power-T and work to control the line of scrimmage. We’re young, but these guys are learning fast and not backing down from anything,” said Couch.
DEFENSE
Defensively, the Wildcats return just one starter but remain confident in their 3-4 scheme, built around effort and assignment football. Clutter will again play a major role, starting at linebacker and serving as the emotional leader of the defense. “Hardest worker around,” said Couch. “Just has a true love for the sport and will give 110% not for him but his teammates and his school in every aspect of his game.”
The Wildcats will also rely on freshman Anthony Fuentes and sophomore Christian Smith to step into larger roles. “Anthony is a true freshman that puts in the time and the work. Christian is an athlete that critiques himself in every aspect to try to be the best version of himself,” said Couch.
