DAVIS WOLVES
Coach: GREG PARKER
9-4
OFFENSE
The Wolves are back on top of the Oklahoma football world for the first time since 2014. Davis battled through a rigorous non-district schedule without recording a win. Once district play arrived, the Wolves gained confidence and momentum against Class 2A-Division-II competition, winning the state title 28-18 against Vian. The architect of the offense returns at quarterback. Dax Owens (5-11, 190, Jr.) expertly guided a Wolves’ attack that simply punished defenses. “He reads everything,” said head coach Greg Parker of his signal caller. Owens broke open the state championship game with a 89-yard kickoff return. Behind Owens, a new group of Wolves are ready to carry the football. Jaxon Wright (5-8 ,165, Jr.) started on defense a year ago and leads a rotation of new faces that will include Ethan Rushing (6-3, 215, Jr.) and Creed Rogers (6-1, 220, So.). Gage Coppenbarger (5-9, 165, Jr.) is a jack of all trades. He will back up Owens at quarterback and will play both halfback and wide receiver. Some younger players will have a shot to carry the football for what Parker believes could be a faster group in 2025. Greyson Bumgarner (5-10, 145, Jr.) is primarily a wide receiver but has the skills to make plays at different positions as well. Teyten Stewart (5-9, 170, So.) will have even more opportunity to display his skills at receiver in 2025, with the Wolves emphasizing the passing game more. Tight end Landon Gibson (6-1, 235, Jr.) is ultra-athletic and gives the offense a unique threat down the field. Gibson will help usher in a new group of blockers, headlined by Brendyn Pierce (5-9, 185, Sr.) at center.
DEFENSE
The defensive front is powered by the efforts of Landon Gibson at defensive tackle. Parker says his junior is one of the more talented defenders they have had at the position. Bryce Tuttle (5-10, 215, Jr.), Jesse DeMoss (5-9, 285, Jr.) and Jacob Silva (6-1, 280, Jr.) will all see rotational action up front and likely contribute on offense as well. Padyn Westberry (6-0, 210, Sr.) made things happen when he was on the field and should also contribute at end. Brendyn Pierce and Jaxon Wright lead the way at linebacker. Pierce came up clutch in the championship game recovering a pair of fumbles. Pierce shows the way at inside linebacker with Wright doing the same at outside linebacker. Levi Laxton (5-9, 180, Sr.), Maxx Hammer (5-9, 160, Jr.) and Creed Rogers (5-9, 200, So.) will be in the mix to play either inside or outside. Dax Owens, Gage Coppenbarger, Teyten Stewart and Nick Pruitt (6-0, 165, Sr.) are the key members of the secondary. Pruitt will get some time at receiver while Coppenbarger should handle the return game responsibilities. Stewart found his way into the starting eleven at cornerback a year ago as a freshman. Davis must replace a very talented senior class, but the reinforcements are ready and waiting. Owens is one of the best playmakers in the Class and would like nothing more than to bring state championship number eight to Davis.
