2024 Clinton Football Defense Preview – Presented by S & D Drug

CLINTON RED TORNADOES

Coach: JOHN HIGBEE

QUICK HITS:
Clinton faces Douglass for only the second time in school history. The Red Tornadoes defeated the Trojans 15-6 in the 1991 Class 4A playoffs. Clinton will be shooting for its 70th win against Elk City on October 11th. The Red Tornadoes hold a 69-13-1 edge all time in the I-40 rivalry.

DEFENSE
The defense will work to attack the ball and keep the big plays to a minimum. Returning to the linebacker
position are Collins and Lorne. They had a solid season last year with Collins racking up 85 tackles and Lorne getting 55 tackles. The tandem can create problems for opposing quarterbacks thanks to their ability to blitz and drop into coverage. Patrolling the secondary will be Kyler Ringo (6-3, 185, Sr.) and Hill. At 6-foot3 Ringo can match up with any receiver or tight end in the class. His presence on the field serves notice to anyone looking to make a big play vertically against this defense. Assistant coaches this season will be Jacob Lee, Cory Strahorn, Robert Gordon, Dex Felch, Devon Mitchell, and Grant Lee. The Red Tornadoes will use their 50-front defense to make opposing QBs uncomfortable and allow their linebackers to fly around the field making plays.
