At just 10th grade, Harlin Johnson is already making waves at Geronimo High School as a multi-sport athlete, excelling in baseball, basketball, and cross country. Whether he’s pitching, catching, or playing shortstop on the baseball field, or running point guard on the basketball court, Harlin’s passion and determination shine through every play.
A cornerstone of Harlin’s success is his faith. “One thing that motivates me is Jesus, just being able to talk to Him throughout the game is something that really motivates me,” he said. That spiritual focus helps him stay grounded, disciplined, and resilient, even in high-pressure situations. His faith, combined with guidance from mentors like Coach Childs, gives him a foundation that goes beyond athletic ability.
Harlin approaches every practice with intensity and a desire to improve. He particularly enjoys going up against teammate Dallas Frazier, whose speed and aggressive drives to the basket push Harlin to elevate his defensive game. “He’s fast, and I like to guard him,” Harlin said. That competitive spirit, paired with his versatility, makes him a valuable asset in multiple roles for his teams.
Balancing athletics with academics is no small feat, but Harlin manages it through focus and hard work. “Honestly, just focusing in class and working hard to get it done,” he said, is his approach to staying on top of both schoolwork and sports commitments. Off the field, he stays involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, where he connects with peers who share his values and faith.
Harlin’s love for sports is matched by his love for his community. Representing Geronimo is a point of pride. “It means everything! It’s awesome to be part of Geronimo, it’s a supportive and loving community,” he said. That sense of responsibility drives him to give his all every time he steps onto the court or field.
Inspired by role models like Forrest Frank, whose music reflects a faith-driven life, Harlin strives to mirror that same dedication in his own athletic journey. With skill, heart, and a commitment to his faith, Johnson is a young athlete to watch, not only for his on-field talent but for the character he brings to every game.
