ELGIN OWLS

COACH: Levi Garrett

OUTLOOK

After a memorable run to the Class 5A State Runner-Up finish in 2025, the Elgin Owls return to the field with high expectations and a veteran roster under head coach Levi Garrett. “We are returning seven starters from out Class 5A State Runner up team in 2025,” Garrett said. “We have a veteran team that will be led by three four-year starters. We will have the ability to manufacture runs or slug to produce runs. I think Owls will have one of the deepest pitching rotations in class 4A and i think that will really help manage the difficult schedule we will play this spring.”

At the center of that veteran leadership is Ritson Meyer, a multi-tool standout who has been a cornerstone of the program. “Ritson is a tremendous athlete but is equally tremendous between the ears on the diamond,” Garrett said. “He possesses so many attributes that helps a team win daily. He is a special player and when finished here at Elgin will be a program leader in many categories.” Garrett added, “He led the owls in hitting the last two seasons and has been one of our top pitchers as well. Defensively he will move around and really gives us some versatility when pitching different guys.”

Another key piece of the Owls’ future is underclassman Cameron Kinder. “Cameron will be a sophomore for us this spring,” Garrett said. “He has worked hard and has made some significant improvements to his game. He will have a shot to see some time on the mound for the owls this spring and could give us some added depth on the infield if needed.”

Elgin’s character and culture are highlighted by Mason Thornton, Kade Hilliary, and Miles Dickinson. “Mason Thornton: four-year starter, my shortstop, committed to Redlands to play baseball. Great kid, Great leader, plays the game the right way,” Garrett said. “Kade Hilliary: three-year starter, outfielder, pitcher. Kade had a monster junior year and is looking to build off of his success from a season ago. His role has increased, and he will be a significant contributor to our team this spring.” On Dickinson, Garrett said, “Miles is a hard worker and has been waiting for his turn to play… A great teammate.”

The Owls’ depth also includes Max Washburn, Jaxon Southerland, and Kason Meyer. “Max is a left-handed pitcher for the owls. He balances ag activities with baseball,” Garrett said. “Jaxon Southerland… One of my top arms, district guy with electric stuff,” and “Kason Meyer… Great utility guy… Big time baseball player that is looking to have a breakout year.”

With experience, depth, and leadership throughout the roster, Elgin enters the season ready to chase another championship run.
