Velma-Alma’s Presley Condit – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by B & J Backhoe

All good things must come to an end. And for Velma-Alma senior Presley Condit, this will be her final season of high school basketball. As she takes the court for her final year with the Comets, she’s motivated by one simple truth: this is her last chance to do what she loves. “This year I have been very motivated because it’s my last year to ever do it,” she said.

Condit, a standout shooting guard for the Comets basketball team and a member of the Velma-Alma golf team, is known for her work ethic and determination. Her success hasn’t come by accident; it’s been built through countless hours of dedication outside of regular practices. “It’s taken a lot of hard work outside of practice,” she explained. “You can’t rely only on team time; you have to push yourself.”

That commitment has led to some unforgettable moments in her athletic career. Presley recalls her basketball highlight vividly: “I hit back-to-back threes to win a game one time,” she said with a smile. On the golf course, a major milestone came when she and her teammates qualified for the state tournament, a moment that solidified her pride in representing Velma-Alma.

Her teammates also play a huge role in her motivation and growth. “My teammates influence me to work harder by how hard they work,” she said. In practice, she especially enjoys going up against Abby Pollock, whom she describes as always hustling and tough to play against.

Off the court, Presley stays active in her school and community. She’s a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Beta Club, and the National Honor Society. Balancing all of her commitments takes discipline and focus. “I cannot have any procrastination,” she said. “If I have something to do, I get it done quickly.”

Presley credits Ms. Dunn, her English teacher and youth group leader, as one of her biggest supporters. “She’s always there for me, at school and at church,” Presley shared.

For Condit, representing Velma-Alma means more than wins and losses; it’s about pride and integrity. “It means everything,” she said. “I always try to have the best sportsmanship and class because of the jersey I wear.”
