RYAN COWBOYS
BOYS
Coach: Rob Lancaster
23-24 Record: 19-8
The Cowboys did not lose a lot of players off of a team that went to the regional round of the playoffs last season. Head coach Rob Lancaster’s squad looks to lean on experience and make a deeper run in the postseason. “We return four of five starters and our top six of eight players,” he said. “We lost our best shooter and leading scorer to graduation so the boys will adjust to having others step up and score more, and handle the ball more. We have an athletic group with some good pieces in place, the biggest obstacle is adjusting after football season is over. As State runner-ups in football we had very little practice time to prepare for basketball, it affected us throughout the year with very limited reps, and consistency.” Noah Torrez (6-2, So.) averaged 14.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 steals last season. He will look to continue that type of play to help the Cowboys be successful. Another guy looking to make an impact this season is Xavier Guzman (6-1, Sr.). He had an average of eight points and two assists a year ago. He has worked hard in the offseason and looks to step up his contribution on the floor. Will Townsend (6-1, Jr.) is a great kid that is always ready to help his team however he can. After tallying 7.4 points per game last year, he looks to continue to play hard this season. Other players to watch for this season are Carsen Rodriguez (6-1, Sr.), Asriel Greason (6-2, So.), Asher Lancaster (6-4, Jr.), Breydon Hill (5-10) Keller Adsit (6-3, Jr.), Andre Morales (5-8) and Kyson Tomberlin (6-2).
